Editor’s note
Strap on your Automail and dust off your spell-book, it’s time for the latest Otaku Magazine! This month the magazine is absolutely bursting with content, from the magic and alchemy themed anime and manga, to the story behind Hayao Miyazaki and Ghibli – not to mention an exclusive interview with the J-Rock band Tagoshi. We take a look at the Japanese video games giant Nintendo, and fill you in on almost everything CLAMP, but wait, there’s more: This issue also sees the introduction of the letters page, as well as Otaku Magazine merchandise! We also bring you coverage of the largest anime convention in the Western world, and travel all the way to California for the Anime Expo 2006!
There have been a number of questions about the Otaku Magazine office, and what it’s like to work here. To appease the masses, we will reveal that it is indeed an Otaku paradise: The office, or “little Japan” as we call it, is a veritable anime and manga fortress, with shelves upon shelves of content. Manga is read in the library wing, whilst anime is watched and reviewed in one of the twelve cinemas built into the complex. All anime is stored in the four-hundred square foot safe, in the basement of the office complex. In the Display Hall, twenty-two thousand bullet-proof glass casings house the constantly growing figurine collection. The office garage, approximately the size of three rugby fields, houses the GW:OTKU – 02TU Gundam, the one seen in the Otaku Team group-shot. This month, certain members (Tu) have been overindulging in the evident soccer buzz, whilst overall chaos reigned throughout the 8th floor of the Office Wing.
We hope you enjoy this issue, and look forward to seeing tons of letters and fan-art in our mail. Till next issue, Miyazaki be with you.
