Issue 17: Gurren Lagann - Fight the power! 2008-05-22

Without change there will definitely be death! SO what can we do but the impossible; see the invisible, raw raw fight the power!

I have probably listened to the Gurren Lagann soundtrack for the last two weeks straight! I am humming it while I shower, brush my teeth, singing it while I am at the office and I have screamed “ANIKIIIIIII!” out loud in public (yes, everyone stared at me and thought I was crazy). You will undoubtedly see the impact that Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann left on most of the OTAKU staff in this issue. What can I say, we loved it!

You will also notice that we changed our page layout; we moved a couple of things around and made a new section called the Hobby section. It was weird for me to move some sections to the front when they use to be in the back – somewhat like someone rearranging the stuff in my room – it was just uncomfortable, BUT very necessary! We see the way the anime society is evolving, and to keep up with this, we added a lot more new stuff to keep you informed about new and upcoming anime. Please let me know what you think of this new change, change in general, and how change impacts your life. In fact, you can compile a great essay on change, and that might change my life.

Seriously, though, what you read here might really change your life, because we have some disturbingly delightful things that make up issue 17. This issue was great to work on and I am already looking forward to the next one! By the time you read this, the Cape Town Road trip will have passed, but we’re still preparing for it as I write this. I cannot wait to see the otaku in Cape Town again and I am sure we are going to have a - wait for it - a LEGENDARY time!

Kazuki \(^_^)/: O' well. Atleast knowone can say I didn't try to promote the Audio Section. I will keep on supporting and hope for a larger section sometime in the future.

DaRC: Good Stuff. I'm sure you guys will figure out a way to add AUDIO to the list. I am just glad you guys are willing to add it. High and Mighty Color Rock Pit CD's release date is 2008/03/19 some how this was slip through from our design team… DaRC is going to be very upset with this.--> I kind of thought DaRC would not make a mistake like that with the release date. I enjoy reading that section. I always start reading your mag from AUDIO :P . I was wondering could it be possible to change the AUDIO section from a 2 page Band / Artist article and a 1 page CD review to a -->-->-->1 Page Band / Artist article-->-->--> and a -->-->-->2 page CD review-->-->-->. I noticed that you guys listed this months J-artist Discography on an entire page. Could that space not be better utilized by putting more CD reviews on it. There are so many great CD's that came out this year like -->-->-->Kawada Mami SAVIA-->-->-->, -->-->-->Dir en Grey The Marrow of a Bone-->-->--> etc. By the time you guys review them, they are already a couple of months, if not years old.--> sadly space is an issue and belive me i have campaigned for more... but there are priorities and in Sa getting the music is hard.. I have noticed a much larger following since the mag started, but face it... the majority of readers are anime fans... hell u know how many stupid otaku ive wanted to beat over the head for saying they forward through the intros of anime... its all good.. when i get settled in the lad of the rising sun there will be some changes. and music will get bigger.

Natasha: i did go in look and listen, but it was not there, but i will order it
