With a new year ahead of us, we just want to say thank you all for the support and for helping us make Otaku what it is today, we could not be here if it wasn’t for our readers! This year promises new challenges, new dreams and a lot of new anime. We have a lot planned, and our future issues are going be action packed! So, what can you expect from this issue of Otaku?
Well to start off, we decided to go into this year ready for battle, and so most of our titles are fighting shounen titles. We take a trip back to SABC history with an anime that got hundreds of people hooked, and also caused some people to neglect their homework as they religiously watched Dragon Ball Z. Next we take a trip to Hueco Mundo in the mighty Bleach. There you will find the Arancar chain of command, learn about all the paths a soul can take, and have most of your Bleach questions answered. But this is not all Otaku allies, we also dig deeper into the world of One Piece, an anime that is as famous as it is long. We have another Animax release schedule on page 10, and a super competitive double page VS article! On page 38 we feature an all-you-need-to-know article on the Nintendo’s DS Lite, and, like a phoenix risen from the ashes, a reborn Merchandise section on page 76!
We also tell you about Akihabara and the Gundam Expo as seen through the eyes of our Otaku Travelers, and DaRC gives his opinion on the ever popular topic of Ecchi on page 6.

We go back to the student life, with all its romantic, paranoid and eccentric scenarios. We look at the hardcore otaku lifestyle of Genshiken, and the intense high school experiences in School Rumble. There is love and lots of it in School days and Strawberry Panic, and bizarre craziness in Welcome to the NHK and Lucky Star. Then we crossover to the true spring time of our youth, with the legendary Great Teacher Onizuka!
